My letter to you
Hello everyone,
I've learned that when we dream our brain activity peaks, say do the physiological studies and research.Psychological theorists focus on our thoughts and emotions, and speculate that the dreams we have deal with the immediate concerns in our lives, such as unfinished business, or concerns we are incapable of handling during the course of the day.Dreams can, in fact, teach us things about ourselves that we are unaware of.It's very interesting to say the least.
"Why does the eye see a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?"Leonardo Di Vinci
I really don't want to steal a quote from a Great American, but I too had a dream. However, I can't see myself standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, telling everyone about it. But I do want to steal from another "great" American, the inventor Al Gore, and use the internet to share with others. It is odd how dreams affect or not affect us?While in our dreams, some seem to be abstract and lack continuity, while others seem clear to us.We are able to see vivid images and can speak with others, communicating, yet when we awake, we can't grasp their meaning, and their understanding seems to be lost.Yet some dreams are not like the others. No matter what occurs during the dream, you seem to be left with a clear and concise understanding of what it was telling you.
Now back to my dream.I believe my recent dream had a purpose, it occurred for a designed reason. I also believe that God uses dreams to make us understand our direction, help us see the light so to speak. This dream was of myself cycling across America, just me, my bike and my gear, traversing from sea to sea for a purpose. This was a dream that was unlike any other, it was clear, vivid, and when it was over, I understood completely.I want to take that understanding and build energy from it, and use it to cycle across America, as a means to serve others. By serving in this way, I hope to raise funds that will go to various organizations that provide support and services to children with development disabilities, and their families. As directed by My Lord and Savior and the inspiration I receive from him, plus by my brother Civitans, I'm dedicating to helping those that can't help themselves.I want to extend how I serve others, by accomplishing something unique. I have great hope that it would also draw an awareness of the great needs that can be found in communities everywhere. While cycling, I hope to raise the attention of villages and towns across America; just what one person can do to help others, now just imagine if we all chipped in.
I also have a greater personal reason to achieve this. Yearly, the Fayette County Civitan Club contributes to the MS Society of Georgia. I am also personally connected to the organization because the 2001 diagnosis of MS in my mother. The FCC club itself is touched by MS, one former member's young wife has MS, and we want to do what we can to find a cure and ensure her life is free of this debilitating disease.
The route. There are multiple existing routes that I can use, but I have chosen one that is a little unique, and less traveled. The trek will begin in Anacortes, Washington ( Map it ) and travel East through Big Sky country, down and across the Rocky Mountains and then southeast into the Midwest, right through the deep south and finally to Georgia's coastal TybeeIsland ( Map it ).This route will cover approx 3400 miles and take me through 10 states. I have great hope to acquire individual sponsors to help raise funds, that will go directly to the many organizations I mentioned above. Some are listed here at crossing-america.com.I have great hope that corporate sponsorships will help offset the actual cost for this cross country endeavor. This way, the single individual donations will go directly to those in need.I hope you can help. It's still very early in the planning stages, however, as it develops, I will be updating the website of the changes and of my progress.
